Do I need a tandem with S&S couplings?
NO! We can acommodate your full sized tandem. Be aware that you will most likely be charged to fly with your non-coupled tandem, however.
Where does the trip start and end?
Our tour will begin and end in Dublin, Ireland. You should plan to fly into and out of the Dublin International Airport where you will be met by our tour guide. If you plan to extend your trip you will need to make arrangements to meet us at the airport on Sunday, July 4 and you should plan to leave from our hotel in Dublin on Sunday, July 18.
What travel documents do I need?
You will need a passport for entry into Ireland. If you don't currently have a passport we recommend that you give yourself plenty of time to receive or renew a passport. We would hate to have you cancel at the last minute just because you don't have your passport!
What will the weather be like?
Perfect for cycling! Will it rain? Certainly! This is Ireland! However, the weather should be mild and cool. We will likely have what the Irish call "soft days" where the clouds roll in, a fine mist falls and then the clouds roll out again. Having cycled in Ireland we can tell you it was lovely riding and the weather was quite enjoyable.
What's the food like?
As cyclists, we know that good food and plenty of it is of prime importance! We can promise that you will have no complaints about the meals - either in terms of quality or in terms of quantity. Riders will have full run of the a la carte menu in every case. Irish breakfasts are legendary so we will have a good start to every day with a hearty breakfast.
How much should we train?
We have found that those who train for a bike tour have a much more enjoyable time than those who do not train. While this is not Ride the Rockies it is a 2-week bike tour averaging 50 miles per day. Since this tour is in June you will have ample time to ride prior to the trip. We suggest you do plan to devote some time to riding in April, May and early June to fully enjoy your time in Spain.
Is there a Sag Vehicle?
Each day there will be several ride options of varying distances. Riders may choose shorter or longer distances as they desire. It is anticipated that riders will complete each day's ride by cycling their chosen routes. While we do have vehicle support, this is meant for emergency purposes and lugagge transfers rather than a "pick-up and drop-off" vehicle for any riders during the day. If your preference is to have a sag vehicle that follows over the course of the day and provides this pick-up and drop-off service for each mile then this may not be the tour for you.
